This is one of two of the swap cards I’m sending this week. Isn’t this a cutie, using the North Pole Mischief stamp set?
I just love this stamp set. If you are a follower, you know we have two cats. This kitty looks like Roxie. To make the back ground I took a piece of Basic white 3-3/4 x 5 and using my trimmer, I scored at 1/2″ on all four sides, then again at 5/8″ on the right side and top. Remember – When you score on the right side, the raised “mountain” will be on the left, when you flip it over.
Next, I used a blending brush and Balmy Blue ink to create a bit of a background and then stamped “Merry, Merry” twice in Versamark and embossed with Gold embossing powder.
On scraps of Basic White, I stamped the Kitty with the fishbowl, in Smokey Slate ink, and fussy cut. Because I was making quite a few, I used my Brother Scan’n Cut, but fussy cutting with your snips is quick and easy. I used the Watercolour Pencils to colour the cat/fish design and blended the colours with Stampin’ Up!’s blender pens.
I used the largest flagged label die from the Stylish Shapes dies to cut out a piece of the polka dot Snowflake Vellum. It wasn’t long enough for what I wanted, so I cut it in half and glued it along the bottom score line, so the flagged ends just overlapped my side score lines…then I placed the kitty cut out on top of that using Stampin’ Dimensional, making sure that the cut part of the label wasn’t visible. My Cherry Cobbler Matte is 4 x 5-1/4, which I then mounted onto a Basic White Thick card base. (8-1/2 x 5-1/2, scored at 4-1/4 ). Finally, I placed two Gold Holly Leaves, using Mini Glue Dots, and used a red enamel dot from the Red & Green Adhesive Backed Pearls. I used the Pearlized Enamel Effects Red, to make the three berries on the mistletoe. I could have used the Red & Green Pearls, but I found them to be a little too big.
On the inside, I used a sentiment from Brightest Glow and the paw prints from North Pole Mischief, stamped in Smokey Slate. On the envelope, I stamped Just the cat and mistletoe, using a Post-It note over the fish bowl when I inked up the stamp, as I just wanted Kitty by herself.
I hope you find this card inspires you to get “Christmassy” in the next little while. I’ve listed all the products that I used, in case you’re interested. Here is the link for the Brightest Glow stamp set, as I wasn’t able to add it below.
