Multi-faceted Christmas Ornament

I saw this adorable ornament a few years ago on Paper Pixie’s Channel, then my sister-in-law brought it as her make’n take when we got together for ONStage this fall. Supplies

Card stock – 6-1/4 x 10-1/2 – Score (long side) 1-1/4, 2-1/2, 3-3/4, 5, 6-1/4, 7-1/2, 8-3/4,

 Rotate card stock and score on the short side 1-1/4, 2-1/2, 3-3/4, 5

DSP – 18 x 1-1/8” squares

10” Ribbon or cording

¼” hole punch

Turn card stock to the long side, with the small scored section to the right

Using the diagram as a reference, mark 5/8” at the first score mark (center of the square on the score line), then score from the center mark diagonally, to the bottom corners of that square.  Repeat on every second square, then repeat on the other side (see diagram)

Fold and burnish all score lines vertically and horizontally.

Cut each vertical score line to the first horizontal score line on both long sides.  Don’t wedge your sides – keep them straight.  Referring to the diagram, remove the shaded areas with your paper snips

Gently fold on the diagonal score lines to make little triangles on the top and bottom

It’s easier to adhere your DSP squares prior to creating your ornament.  Once this is complete, glue the side tab to the other side of the ornament, creating a sort of tube.  

Starting on the bottom, glue opposite tabs together to bring the scored sides in and continue until all the tabs are sitting on top of each other.  

For the top, you will need to punch a hole in the center of each tab.  I made a template from one of the cut-out squares, so all my holes would be in the same spot on each tab.

Fold your ribbon in half and tie the ends in a knot.  Thread the folded top of the ribbon through the first tab hole, then through the opposite tab hole.  Continue until the ribbon is through all the holes, from the bottom, upwards.  

Create a tag and thread the ribbon through the hole
