Today is my amazing daughter’s birthday. Emily is the mother of a 2 yr old dynamo, Isla and a very busy 10 month old boy, named Aidan. She juggles life like a pro and has the patience of a saint. I’ve been helping with Aidan, now that she has returned to work, as he’s too young for a daycare placement and I’m loving every minute.
I saw this beautiful card on Pinterest a couple of weeks ago and just loved the simple elegance of it. To recreate it, I die cut the leaf image from the Artfully Layered bundle 12 times in Basic white, then one of each in Bermuda Bay, Granny Apple green, Crushed Curry, Flirty Flamingo, Pumpkin Pie and Polished Pink. These are the colours that I used, but of course you can use any colour combination you like. I often layer multiples of the same element to create texture, and this time I layered two Basic White leaves and one coloured leaf for each element, using the Multi Purpose adhesive sheets. You simply peel off the backing of the adhesive sheets and stick it to one side of the card stock. Make sure you have your die on the card stock side, not the adhesive sheet side, or it’ll come out backwards (ask me how I know…)
I used the Stamp & write markers in Bermuda Bay, Crushed Curry and Polished pink to create splatters on the top mat layer, then drew a few little hearts with the Crushed Curry and Bermuda Bay markers, but you can use any coordinating colours. To creat the splatters, take the brush end of the pen and flick it off the inside of the cap edge, onto the paper.
I stamped the sentiment, also from Artfully Layered, and just fussy cut around it and adhered with Dimensionals.
On the inside, I adhered another of the leaf die cuts. The sentiment is from the Approaching Perfection stamp set which was a sale-a-bration set from January 2021. Sometimes we forget some of the great stamps we have in our stash. Take a browse through your old stamps from time to time and see what pops into your creative vision.
The dimensions are:
Card Base – Basic White Thick 7-1/2 x 8-3/4, scored at 3-3/4, Top mat regular Basic white 3 x 8. I just used scraps/offcuts of the coloured card stock to create the leaves, and it was a great way to use up bits and pieces of the scraps of basic white card stock I always seem to have so much of.
In the product list below, I chose the Brights Stamp’n Write markers, but you can use colours that you have that match/ressemble your leaves.
Slim line envelops are now available in the Jan-June 2022 Mini. I hope they carry over to the new annual catalogue, but just in case they don’t, I’m stocking up.
