I’ve rediscovered Tea Boutique

When I was doing some reorganization in my craft room on the weekend, I found a package of Tea Boutique DSP. It’s a 6 x 6″ collection of sweet tea pots, florals and backgrounds. I also found a part package of the Tea Boutique note cards and got out the stamp set and dies.

In the above blue sample, I used the Deckled Rectangles to cut out the front Basic White panel out of the first matte (4 x 5-1/4) , since it was going to be covered anyway. I also cut the solid cup from the DSP piece, which I actually cut from the front of one of the Tea boutique note cards. I cut this piece at 3-7/8 x 5-1/8. I used Starry Sky card stock to cut the decorative cup die to layer onto the DSP cup

In this card, I “cased ” the catalogue. The catalogue is a great source of inspiration, if you’re ever not sure where to start. I created a Tahitian Tide water colour wash as the base colour on the Thick Basic white , then stamped off the leafy element before stamping on the card front. I used the solid tea cup die for the floral cups and layered the fancier cup die cut onto a matching card stock solid cup.

In these two cards, I made a crossover “envelope” for the removable note card. I used the Very Best Trio punch to create interest in the top corners of the note card. I have a YouTube tutorial in the works. for this one.

Don’t forget to check out the catalogues for great inspiration. You will be amazed at how quickly you start seeing new ideas grow in your own creations.

Here is a list of the products that I used

A Beautifully Happy Birthday

Don’t you love this floral stamp? I needed some cards for my upcoming birthdays, and I absolutely love this set. (This set is free, by the way, with a qualifying purchase of $120). The flowers are 2-step, meaning you stamp the outline with one stamp, then stamp the coloured parts with the fill-in stamps. This set is “Distinctive” meaning it can look like you’ve used two different colours, but it is just the way the stamp is formed. It’s a very simple card. The base is Evening Evergreen (8-1/2 x 5-1/2, scored at 4-1/4). The Designer Series Paper is Texture chic from the Annual Catalogue – 4 x 5-1/4″.

I stamped the floral design on Basic White using Early Espresso ink, Pale Papaya for the main flowers, Evening evergreen for the leaves, and Cajun Craze for the top flower element, as well as the dots around the flower. I also used Pale Papaya on a blending brush to give some highlight around the flower stem. The sentiment is stamped in Early Espresso, as is the little bee.

Just to switch it up a little, I used the Layering Diorama Dies to cut out the basic white and mounted it on dimensionals.

I hope you like this card enough to make one and wish someone a happy birthday. PS – happy birthday to all you January babies out there!!

Cutest Little Treat Holders

I was trying to get into a card groove yesterday and instead, ended up making some cute little treat holders. They’re SO simple, you’ll be making these in bulk! The base is 3-1/2″ x 3-1/2″, scored at 1/2″ on all four sides. Cut to the score line and slightly wedge where indicated to reduce bulk. Put glue on the four little tabs and tuck them in and secure to create a box bottom

the body of the treat holder is made using a 3 x 11″ strip of card stock. I put “Tear’n Tape along the bottom and right side of the rectangle, then starting in the. middle of one of the sides, adhere the rectangle to the box bottom to create the container.

Once you get your container made, it’s time to embellish it. For the Santa, I used 3/4″ X 11 for the belt and 1″ x 11″ of Basic White for the collar. I used the Basic Borders to create the different collars. I cut a gold foil, 3/4″ square for the belt buckle and glued a little square of Basic Black in the middle of that.

For the penguin, I cut the bottom off of a Stitched Oval, for the tummy and cut two hearts from the Give it a Whirl dies in Mango Melody, for the feet. A little Mango Melody triangle for the beak and used some retired circle punches to create the eyes, detailed with a White Stampin’ Chalk Marker (Unfortunately retired, but a white gel pen – available at the dollar store would work as well). So stinkin’ cute!
